About Me

I was born in the UK and grew up just outside the beautiful, historic city of Cambridge, spending my early years between Cambridge and Newmarket, Suffolk. It’s a part of the world steeped in history, quiet beauty, and striking architecture—an environment that leaves a lasting impression and shapes how you see the world.

My family roots run deep in Northern Ireland, where much of my extended family still lives today. That connection has always been an important part of who I am—informing my sense of home, humour, resilience, and community. Growing up with strong ties across the water gave me a deep appreciation for heritage and belonging, and it’s something I continue to value as an adult.

I attended college in Cambridge, surrounded by centuries of learning and culture, and those formative years fostered both independence and curiosity. Living so close to such a historic city instilled in me a love for tradition balanced with forward thinking—a blend that continues to influence how I live, work, and create.

No matter how far life has taken me, there is truly nowhere like home. I return whenever I can, drawn back by the familiarity, the landscape, and the quiet comfort of a place that will always be part of me.

Who knew that chickens could be so endlessly entertaining? Becoming a chicken herder to our ever-evolving flock has brought far more joy than I ever imagined. Along with colourful fresh eggs for our family and community, they give us daily moments of connection—some even still enjoy a cuddle as they come running up the hill to what we affectionately call the Palais de Poulet.

Our homestead has grown steadily over time. We’ve raised pigs—now respectfully finished and tucked away in the freezer—and processed meat chickens and turkeys, deepening our appreciation for where food comes from and reinforcing our commitment to raising animals with care, space, and dignity.

Goats were a long-held dream and quickly became part of the family. Over the seasons we’ve welcomed many goat kids, most thoughtfully rehomed, while those that stayed are cherished companions rather than livestock. One of our most beloved, Luna, was part of that journey, and her loss is still felt.

Bees were where it all began and remain a constant—providing jars of golden honey and a quiet lesson in balance. And then there was Leslie, a heritage Bourbon Red turkey who was never destined for the table and was very much loved.

his way of life isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention, respect, and care—for the animals we raise, the food we share, and the slower rhythm we’ve chosen, season by season.

After more than two decades working in the beauty industry, my world has naturally expanded into beauty, fashion, health, and modern lifestyle—how we care for ourselves, how we present ourselves, and how those choices evolve as we do.

Beauty will always be part of my DNA. It shaped my eye for detail, my appreciation for quality, and my belief that confidence starts with how you feel in your own skin. Over the years, I’ve worked across many sides of the industry, gaining a deep understanding of both the craft and the business behind it.

Today, my focus is less about one role and more about curation and perspective. I share beauty knowledge that feels relevant, fashion that feels wearable, and wellness habits that support real life—not perfection. I’m drawn to pieces, routines, and rituals that are timeless, practical, and quietly elevated.

Alongside beauty and fashion, I’m intentionally creating space for a slower pace of living—one that values balance, creativity, and grounding habits. This chapter is about refinement, confidence, and embracing what works now.

I have three very different—but wonderfully unique—daughters, now aged 28, 23, and 20. With the benefit of hindsight, I sometimes think I might have had them a little closer together. That said, one of the unexpected gifts of larger age gaps is the opportunity for truly individual time—being present for each of them as they moved through childhood and into adulthood, each in their own way.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have raised smart, funny, and confident young women, each forging her own path and building a life that reflects who she is.

I’m equally blessed in the husband department. He’s a quiet, devoted family man—exceptionally intelligent, endlessly capable, and one of the hardest-working people I know. He approaches projects with remarkable focus, having designed and hand-built many of the structures on our property, and he’s always dreaming up the next one, much to the girls’ (and my) amusement.

Nichola Nagy, founder of Blue Door Spa & Salon, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who for her leadership in cosmetology and customer service. With nearly three decades of experience, she has built a highly successful career, owning Blue Door since 2005. The award-winning day spa in Bradenton, Florida, offers a full range of beauty services including hair care, skincare, massages, and more.

Before transitioning to the beauty industry, Ms. Nagy spent over a decade in the restaurant and nightclub business, from the late 80s to the early 2000s, where she honed her entrepreneurial skills. This customer-driven experience naturally led her to the wellness and beauty world, which continues to captivate her as the industry evolves.

Ms. Nagy holds a degree in business, marketing, and finance from Anglia Ruskin University, along with multiple diplomas in aesthetic treatments and body therapy. She is a certified cosmetologist and CIDESCO-recognized beauty professional. Her dedication to her community and clients is the cornerstone of her success, and she plans to continue expanding her business while focusing on her homesteading lifestyle.
