Nichola Nagy, founder of Blue Door Spa & Salon, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who for her leadership in cosmetology and customer service. With nearly three decades of experience, she has built a highly successful career, owning Blue Door since 2005. The award-winning day spa in Bradenton, Florida, offers a full range of beauty services including hair care, skincare, massages, and more.
Before transitioning to the beauty industry, Ms. Nagy spent over a decade in the restaurant and nightclub business, from the late 80s to the early 2000s, where she honed her entrepreneurial skills. This customer-driven experience naturally led her to the wellness and beauty world, which continues to captivate her as the industry evolves.
Ms. Nagy holds a degree in business, marketing, and finance from Anglia Ruskin University, along with multiple diplomas in aesthetic treatments and body therapy. She is a certified cosmetologist and CIDESCO-recognized beauty professional. Her dedication to her community and clients is the cornerstone of her success, and she plans to continue expanding her business while focusing on her homesteading lifestyle.

After over 21 years in the beauty industry (yes, time really does fly when you're doing what you love), I am stepping back from my role as owner of Blue Door Spa & Salon, having sold it on. For those of you who’ve been with us, you know the gorgeous space we’ve built in Bradenton, FL. I’m proud to say Blue Door Spa & Salon has been an award-winning day spa for 19 years, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Becoming a business owner was a lifelong dream, and when I transitioned into the beauty industry, I truly found my calling. Moving full-time to Florida gave me the chance to turn that dream into reality and create the spa I had always envisioned.
Of course, it hasn't always been easy—many of my grey hairs are thanks to the ups and downs of owning a business (though I’m sure children and ex-husbands played a role too! 😉). But the rewards have far outweighed the challenges. I've had the privilege of mentoring young entrepreneurs, connecting with amazing clients, and actively giving back to the community I cherish.
While stepping back from spa ownership, my love for fashion and beauty is still very much alive. I hope to continue to coach, educate, and be involved in the industry in a more passive way, so I can focus on my homesteading life and enjoy a new chapter that balances my passion with a slower pace.
If you’re ever in the Bradenton/Sarasota area, be sure to visit us at Blue Door. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to see what’s next!
I have three VERY different, but fabulously wonderful girls. 28 years, 23 years and 20 years. With some hindsight I perhaps should have had them all a bit closer together. But, what I will say about larger age gaps, is that you get some one on one time with each of them as they go through the many milestones of childhood to adulthood.

I have been blessed with smart, funny, and confident girls who I know will be forging a wonderful life for themselves.
I am equally blessed in the Hubbie department, a quiet and devoted man to his family and without question one of the smartest and hardest working I have ever known. He takes on projects like no other. He designed and hand built many of the buildings on our property and is always engineering the next one, much to mine and the girls amusement.
I will be posting on my blog some of his achievements. Watch this space.
Who knew that chickens could be so entertaining? To say I have enjoyed being a Chicken Herder to my small flock is an understatement.

"Palais de Poulet"
We are currently on our second set of pigs. Like the chickens they provide for our table. They get to live their best lives with amazing food and lots of love. Thank you Mr. Brown and Milkshake. Our current pair in residence, two males are named "Percy" and "Pepper"
This past spring we FINALLY added goats to our homestead... Oh my how we adore them. Initially we thought we would have them as meat goats, but that has quickly changed because we have fallen in love and they have become very pampered pets..LOL
However, once old enough we will breed them and have some milk.
Bees have been a big part of how this all started, they were the first thing we started with when we began homesteading. Fairly easy to keep, they provide us and friends with oodles of golden nectar.
From time to time we have Pet Turkeys, our latest was Leslie, a dear boy. RIP

YOU ARE NOT SELFISH!
In taking some time as a women of this modern world we give ourselves some space to care for all the many things we to cater to. If we are not OK, how can we take care of those around us. For me this has been spending time outdoors, walking and hiking, tending to my small flock of very amusing chickens and doing my daily personal development.
Life Surpassed has been my daily dose of being in the right mindset to achieve the goals I have dreamed of.
